What is eschatology?
“Eschatology is a series of markers set up by God which the world must follow and which take it there where God, from all eternity, has destined it to go and to where He leads it,”without, for all that,“infringing on man’s single and extraordinary, marvelous and terrible privilege: his freedom”(Raoul Auclair,Histoire et Prophétie, p. 9).
“It is the religious understanding of history which is born of the meeting of the Divine Word with events, something willed by God but accomplished by men.”In other words,“Seen in the fullest extent of its substance, it is history viewed in the light of prophecy; it is knowing the ‘signification of history’.”
