THE CHOIR OF THE IMMACULATE

“It is my wish that beauty should pervade the prayer of my people.” Saint Pius X

which includes more than 150 choir members (adults and children)

The Choir of the Immaculate was established in 1977 to sing the glories of the Trinity and Mary Immaculate. It is formed of more than one hundred and fifty members, adults and children, who since then have restored the worth of sacred hymns in our own country and abroad. For the different religious ceremonies in which it participates, the Choir draws from a rich repertoire of Gregorian hymns as well as musical compositions of a religious nature, with the purpose of forming and elevating.

In 1989, Marie-Paule wrote in the paper Le Royaume, no. 69 of July-August: “The more we love God and the Church of Christ, the more do we love the wonderful liturgy and the sacred singing. The liturgy has a soul which vibrates and which causes us to vibrate, with a resonance that reaches to the deepest part of our heart. The choir, deeply imbued with this sentiment of respect and adoration, then executes hymns, bearers of a divine unction, which elevate and stir up the gathering disposed to converse with God of whom it perceives that mysterious side which attracts and embraces it. The Word of God seems to be living in us and vitalizing us. Pope Pius X said, ‘It is my wish that beauty should pervade the prayer of my people.’ In fact, everything contributes to the glorification of God and the sanctification of souls.”

Christmas Pageants and Concerts of Sacred Music
On several occasions, the Choir of the Immaculate presented to the members of the Work a Christmas Pageant, under the direction of Father Hervé Lemay.

Biblical texts of the Old and New Testament, as well as meditative compositions by Raoul Auclair, would be presented to our members, and at the same time there would unfold before their eyes different scenes from the life of Jesus.

The Choir execute works from a classical repertoire (Purcell, Arcadelt, Schnabel, Berlioz, Handel, Vivaldi, etc.) Christmas music from different countries, Gregorian hymns, as well as musical compositions by Father Hervé Lemay. The Choir performs these selections with brio, supported by the organ and various instruments such as the violin, flute, trumpet, viola, clarinet, etc.

Likewise, the Choir presents, on occasion, concerts of sacred music, in order to help everyone live the different liturgical times of the year in greater depth.

The concerts are recorded on audio cassettes or compact disks and are available through “Le Rosier d’Or” (see Apostolic Activities)
