From March 25, 1945 to May 31, 1959, Mary appeared fifty-five times to Ida Peerdeman, a maiden lady of forty living in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, in order to give her important messages for the Church and the world.
Just like the messages of Fatima in 1917 and those of Akita, Japan, in 1973, already recognized by the Church, the messages of Amsterdam are of a dramatic timeliness. The Lady speaks beseechingly of great calamities in the Church and in the world, and in her maternal love, indicates the only really effective remedy for a true renewal: a sincere conversion of heart and the sacramental life.
A New Title
In her messages Mary presented herself as the Lady of All Peoples, for “it is she who has received the power to gather her peoples into one great, single Community. All the peoples gathered together in one great Community; that is what this world and this time must work for. And that is what I have announced many times” (based on a translation of Raoul Auclair’s presentation of the messages in La Dame de tous les Peuples, Quebec, Éditions Stella, 1982, 51st apparition, May 31, 1955).
A Prayer
She came to gather all peoples into one single Community “in the Spirit, the True Holy Spirit” (December 8, 1952). Given the calamities which threaten humanity, the Lady gave a prayer to her messenger (February 11, 1951) and begged her to spread it, in order to protect the world.
A Fifth Marian Dogma
In the course of her apparitions, Mary also encouraged the Church to prepare the dogma of Mary Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate, promising “true Peace”. “When the dogma will have been promulgated, then the Lady of All Peoples will give her blessing. Then the Lady of All Peoples will give Peace. Yes, she will help you when the dogma will have been promulgated” (May 31, 1955).Then, but only then, will the Church become resplendent once again because it will have been deeply purified before entering into the peaceful times of the Kingdom on earth, a Kingdom we ask for every day in the “Our Father”: “Thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven.” This Kingdom in which justice, peace and joy will have been established through the coming of the True Spirit is yet to come, for it is through Mary that the Holy Spirit will come: “She comes, and it is to announce the Holy Spirit. (...) This true peace, peoples, is the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is closer than ever. Understand well these words” (May 31, 1955).
Fulfillment of the Messages
Among the messages given by the Lady of All Peoples, many have already been fulfilled, proving the authenticity of the communications. At a time when the faith was still very strong, the Lady had predicted on March 29, 1946: “Religion will have to wage a hard battle. They want to annihilate it. This will be done with such subtlety that hardly anyone will worry about it”. In 1951, she announced the opening of the Second Vatican Council (begun in 1963), and on February 19, 1958, she had warned of Pope Pius XII’s death who “will be one of Us” at the beginning of October. In fact, the Pope died on October 9. The Lady also clearly showed, on December 10, 1950, the building (August 13, 1961) and the downfall (November 1989) of the Berlin Wall, as well as the Balkan War.* * *
“This time which is Our Time” has always been, throughout all her messages, the warning of the Lady of All Peoples who has come to prepare the way of the Lord and His Kingdom.
