PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF THE POPE
Spain and Italy

May 19 to June 2, 1979

On May 19, 1979, five hundred and thirty-two pilgrims left Mirabel Airport for Spain and Italy, on a trip in honor of the Holy Father.

On May 24, a surprise visit to Garabandal was a cause of joy for the pilgrims. With much emotion, everyone climbed the steep slope leading them to the pine of the apparitions, from which a magnificent view of the village made them discover this very poor region filled with Mary’s maternal presence.

After a sojourn in Spain, the pilgrims went on to Italy where, on May 27, they attended the Angelus in Saint Peter’s Square. Everything unfolded as it had been “shown” Marie-Paule. At four minutes to twelve, a large number of white Army of Mary flags were displayed along the colonnade, facing the window from which the Pope delivered the Angelus. Furthermore, she had “seen” the Army of Mary’s choir take their place before the obelisk and she had “heard” their singing in four-part harmony.

At noon, Pope John Paul II appeared at his window and the ovations began. He turned to his secretary and spoke to him; then he addressed the crowd, ending his allocution with these words: “I remark under the obelisk a group clad in white. I don’t know who these people are, but I greet them and I bless them.”

That same evening, at one of the hotels in which the pilgrims were staying, some Knights of Mary were addressed by one of the members of the Secretariat of State charged with identifying the group dressed in white during the Angelus.

The next day, Father Denis Laprise and Marie-Paule went to the Vatican to meet with Monsignor Maggee in order to give him a donation for Pope John Paul II. It was at that moment that they learned that at the time of the Angelus, the Holy Father had turned to his secretary, asking him: “Who are those people in white, near the obelisk? Where do they come from?”

Since he didn’t know, the Holy Father asked him to get in touch with the Secretariat of State which was also unable to provide the information. So, the Holy Father asked that they investigate, in order to find this group and identify it.

In this manner, a dream which Marie-Paule had had the preceding April 20 was fulfilled. In this dream, the Holy Father was searching for the Army of Mary and having it sought. Marie-Paule had informed her immediate collaborators of this on that same day.
