PILGRIMAGE “PAUL-MARIE”
Italy

September 19 to October 3, 1983

The pilgrimage “Paul-Marie” was organized in honor of the Jubilee of the Redemption, in this year which marked the 1950th anniversary of Christ the Redeemer’s death.
Seven hundred and nineteen members of the Army of Mary who were joined by several hundred European Knights began a crusade of prayer on September 19 which, between then and October 3, would take them to various Italian shrines: Bergamo, Venice, Padoua, Loretto, Lanciano, San Giovanni Rotondo, Mount Cassini and Rome.

The Holy Father blessing the two Army of Mary thrones
At the end of Mass, the
Pope spoke to the pilgrims and blessed them paternally.

The Lord had “announced” this pilgrimage to Marie-Paule more than a year in advance with the “order” to reserve Sunday, October 2 for a celebration at Saint Peter’s. “This ceremony will coincide with words from the Pope,” Jesus had stated. Several months later, Marie-Paule learned that the Pope had just decreed this day, the Day of the Rosary, and that all Marian movements were invited to participate in the Sunday Mass for the twenty-seventh Sunday of Ordinary Time.

Thus, the pilgrims had the privilege of attending the Holy Father’s special Mass, on this Sunday which was also the last day of a triduum of prayer dedicated on that day to the Army of Mary. Clad in Marian attire, they occupied a front-row section in Saint Peter’s Square.

At the end of Mass, a special joy awaited them. Going to the section reserved for them, the Holy Father spoke to the pilgrims and blessed them paternally, as well as the two thrones they had brought for their ceremonies.
