PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF
MARY MEDIATRIX

From May 24/26 to June 4, 1987, the pilgrimage in honor of Mary Mediatrix was held, leading more than seven hundred pilgrims to Naples, Pompei and Capri.

June 1, 1987, Rome – Over a thousand pilgrims, including those from Europe
and South America, before the rear facade of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major

At the end of Mass, the new priests
consecrated themselves to Mary.

Finally, on May 30, the main event of the pilgrimage took place: nine Sons of Mary were ordained to the priesthood by His Excellency Archbishop Mario Peressin in the Basilica of Sancta Maria di Collemaggio at L’Aquila. More than one thousand Army of Mary pilgrims attended the ceremony, without suspecting the strong pressure which had been exerted upon the Archbishop in order to prevent him from conferring the priesthood on members of the nascent Community.

The Knights’ sentiments of thanksgiving ascended to God and the Virgin Mary, as well as their deepest gratitude towards Archbishop Peressin who had courageously ordained the Sons of Mary.

The pilgrimage continued on to Rome where visits and religious ceremonies were organized in various shrines in the Eternal City.
