PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF
THE ARCHANGEL GABRIEL
Kentucky, United States

November 24 to 27, 1989

Over several years, the Knights of Mary from the United States had been travelling between 1,000 and 2,000 miles (1,600 to 3,200 km) on a regular basis to attend large gatherings organized by the International Center of the Works. Similarly, a great number of them were faithful participants in different pilgrimages to Europe.

The time having come to return the favor to our southern friends, approximately one hundred Knights of Mary from Canada went to the United States from November 24 to 27, to participate in a pilgrimage organized in honor of the Archangel Gabriel. The trip’s destination: Owensboro in the State of Kentucky where various gatherings were scheduled either for conferences or religious ceremonies.

Thus, on November 25, during a ceremony of the Family of the Sons and Daughters of Mary, Father Leon Boarman, who had paved the way for the Army of Mary in the area, received the habit of the Sons of Mary, as a priest affiliated to the Community.

Likewise, the afternoon of November 26 was given over to a ceremony of the Army of Mary, after which the five hundred or so Knights of Mary from Canada and various American states had the joy of fraternizing in a warm brotherhood, in spite of the language and culture barriers.
