PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF
THE SACRED HEART
Texas, United States
June 8 to 11, 1990

From June 8 to 11, 1990, a pilgrimage in honor of the Sacred Heart was organized to Dallas, Texas, during which several hundred Knights of Mary gathered together to experience a time of intense spirituality and warm brotherhood. Among the participants there were members from five Canadian provinces (Quebec, New Brunswick, Ontario, Manitoba and Alberta) and thirteen American states (Texas, Connecticut, Maine, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana and California).

Two meetings of the Works were scheduled during the weekend and were a source of fraternal exchanges between the Canadian pilgrims and the Knights of Mary from the United States, in spite of the two languages which were not mastered by all. When God unites, a joy and a serene peace reign.

However, this short pilgrimage on American soil had a special flavor, since in Dallas, the home of financial and industrial magnates, and in Texas, an American state known for its ranches, cowboys and oil wells, pilgrimages are not a common occurrence. This was the comment of a business man to one of the ladies of the group on the return flight between Dallas and Chicago, for as he said: “In Dallas, you’re right in the middle of the business world”. To which she replied: “We are in a spiritual world”, a world no less real than the world conquered by man’s genius.
