PILGRIMAGE IN HONOR OF
HIS HOLINESS POPE JOHN PAUL II
Italy and Austria
May 24 to June 5, 1994

The pilgrimage in honor of His Holiness Pope John Paul II, held from May 24 to June 5, 1994, gave the six hundred and ten Knights of Mary the opportunity to discover a part of northern Italy: Lido di Jesolo, Venice, Treviso, Vicenza and Trieste.

Then, it was on to Austria where three Sons of Mary had been exercising their ministry for a year at Kötschach, an enchanting village located at the foot of the Alps. There, the first group of pilgrims met up with hundreds of others who were part of the second option.

On May 31, the pilgrims were in Klagenfurt where they had the joy of participating in the ordination to the priesthood of two Sons of Mary (a member of the Community and an affiliated member of the Family), an ordination presided over by His Excellency Most Reverend Mario Peressin, Archbishop of L’Aquila. Also present for this ceremony were His Excellency Most Reverend Egon Kapellari, Bishop of Gurk who welcomed the Sons of Mary in his diocese, and His Excellency Most Reverend Joseph Molinari, Bishop of Rieti in Italy.

The next day, June 1, the pilgrims visited Kötschach where they received a very warm welcome from the parishioners.

Then, it was on to Salzburg, the famous city in which Mozart was born, and in which the pilgrims would hold a ceremony of the Work at the cathedral.
