TEXT OF THE FILM “LIFE OF LOVE”
by Sister Sylvie Payeur

The film, “LIFE OF LOVE” – an adventure that lasted less than two and a half months! It was during the last days of the pilgrimage to Italy, May 22 to June 2, 1992, in honor of the Co-Redemptrix and organized by the Army of Mary, that the idea for the film came to the film makers who had been covering the pilgrimage, and it was on August 10, 1992, in Rome, that this “voyage in time” to retrace the life of the foundress of the Army of Mary, Marie-Paule, terminated.

From the moment the matter of the film came up, Marie-Paule was strongly opposed to it. However, she was obliged to bow to the events, the more so since her immediate collaborators – religious and lay – judged that it would be appropriate to make a film on Life of Love for the purpose of shedding light on this life that has been so vilified.

Marie-Paule was asked to participate in this film and to supervise its making in order that the authenticity of Life of Love might be preserved. But it was very much against her will that this documentary was produced, a documentary which has been, and always will be, a source of great sufferings to her. If living Life of Love was painful, and writing it even more so, what must she feel at seeing it brought to the screen! No suffering will have been spared Marie-Paule, who has always desired to live in obscurity and silence, but whose mission made her the target, numerous times, of calumnies that were rife against her.

But the truth has its rights. (...)

May this documentary, which presents the facts with a great solicitude for authenticity, contribute to making “the truth shine forth” in regard to a life that is so contested!

This film, which lasts a little more than two hours, permits us only a quick and general view of Marie-Paule’s life which is recounted in eighteen volumes. (...) Such an abridgement obviously entails the drawback of presenting the matter without all the nuances contained in the original work, which must be referred to for a just appreciation of this life. On the other hand, this condensation makes it possible for those not having the time to undertake such an extensive reading, to approach this work in its principal elements.

“A picture is worth a thousand words,” it is said. What impression will Marie-Paule leave on all those who will become acquainted with her through this film? May they see the crystal limpidity of this woman whose only reason for living has been the glory of God and the salvation of souls.
