LIFE OF LOVE - V
The Celestial Phase
(September 1969 - September 1970)

“When a soul is detached from everything, when it is totally stripped of itself, when it has accomplished everything that is in its power to do, then,” says Father Marie-Eugène de l’Enfant-Jésus, O.C.D., “it is impossible for God not to accomplish, for His part, what is required to communicate Himself to it, at least in the secrecy of silence. He enters into the soul that is absolutely detached from all creatures and fills it with His treasures. Thus, God is always ready to penetrate souls in the same way that the sun invades a room” (Je veux voir Dieu, Éditions du Carmel).

“WITH US...IT IS HEAVEN!” wrote Marie-Paule at the beginning of the fifth volume of Life of Love:

“And it is a fact that, when the soul has been totally subjugated to LOVE, it may be affected by the vicissitudes of this life, but the delectability of peace, the blissful thought of the Infinite, the splendor of vast spaces, and the freedom of joyous flights, no longer know the constraints of earth. It already possesses the celestial spirit.

“This ‘celestial phase’, in fact, opens precisely on the lovely feast of the EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS (September 14, 1969).

“In the evening of [November 21, 1969], I am alone in the front room. Somewhat belatedly, I kneel down, my arms in the form of a cross, to recite the six Paters, Aves and Glorias for the intentions of our Holy Father, Pope Paul VI. I am deep in these prayers, when suddenly the Lord asks me to pronounce my vows. Surprise does not cause me even a moment’s hesitation. Spontaneously, my arms still outstretched, I pronounce, with joy and love, the three vows as demanded, using the words which will come to my mind: ‘I make the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience for as long as I shall live.’ Then I finish the Paters, the Aves and the Glorias for the intentions of the Sovereign Pontiff.

“This consecration of my life asked for by the Lord at the very moment I am praying for the Pope – a prayer also asked for by the Lord – is certainly significant. The Lord thus seems to be linking me very closely to the cause of the Holy Father.”

Father J.-A. Veilleux, O.M.I. is reading the manuscripts of Life of Love and he sends Marie-Paule his appreciation. Here are his reflections:

“The deeper you get into Life of Love, the more profound and stronger is the spirituality. It is as if God were acting within it in order to multiply His directives to the modern world. Your pen flows along, and in depth, with an astonishing facility. Bless the Lord.” (July 16, 1970, chapter 52)
