LIFE OF LOVE - IX
The Reconciliation
(August 1973 - September 1974)

The Army of Mary was developing according to providential events. In March 1973, a trip to Europe led the Foundress, her mother, Father Philippe Roy and Mrs. Rose Dessureault to Rome, where they met His Excellency Bishop Jean-Pierre van Lierde, Vicar General for Vatican City. Presented at the Vatican by Father Lionel Mélançon, this latter, upon his return to Canada, was mandated by Bishop van Lierde to personally follow the development of the Army of Mary and keep Bishop van Lierde informed.

On August 1, 1973, Father Mélançon wrote to Bishop van Lierde:

“The Lord has arranged for me some very consoling meetings with Madam Marie-Paule Giguère and the other directors of the Army of Mary. They were even at the airport to meet me upon my arrival in Montreal. (...) What I have observed of the utterances and dealings of the directors confirms me in my favorable judgment on the “mystical and practical” competence of the general, Marie-Paule. Rest assured that it is my desire to evaluate, personally, all the communications Marie-Paule receives and reveals to me with a very prudent confidence. My reading of her writings, Life of Love – I am in the third volume –, convinces me that she has received great graces on behalf of a Work of providence. Her entire life has been under the guidance of a competent director. The messages she receives are checked and proven to be realized, for the most part. The Lord’s indications are given progressively and, with greater details, according to the needs that arise. (...)

Father Lionel Mélançon”

For his part, on September 25, 1973, Father Philippe Roy gave Bishop van Lierde his impressions after having finished reading volume VIII.

“I end this letter, Excellency, by stressing that we are genuinely living a ‘Celestial Life’. Moreover, that is the name given by the Lord to this most sublime phase through which we are passing. Through Marie-Paule we live in constant contact with the Lord and His most holy Mother. How can we have any doubts, when we are in a position to witness, with our own eyes, the fulfillment of so many declarations of the Lord?

“The mystical life of Marie-Paule is known to only some twenty people, all of whom are bound to the Work and bound to absolute secrecy. (...)

Father Philippe Roy”
