LIFE OF LOVE - XIII
Marie and Jean
(August 1976 - February 1977)

His Excellency Bishop van Lierde, Pope Paul VI’s sacristan shows an interest in the Army of Mary and counsels its Foundress who, through painful crosses, is experiencing graces which amaze her. Thus, the enlightenment provided by Bishop van Lierde on a new phase, the “ultra-terrestrial” is necessary. A few excerpts from a conversation recorded during his visit to Quebec confirm this.

“There is a knowledge that is intellectual, intellective, and a knowledge that is experimental. So, it sometimes happens – and these are terms used by the great saints in their works and in their books – that there takes place a luminous metamorphosis, a spiritual transformation, which is a reflection of the Paradise lost, of the ‘Garden of Eden’, about which the first pages of Genesis speak. (...)

“The mind of the one who experiences this direct action of God, this entry into the new light, is certainly surprised. For this mind is not yet stabilized in the ‘ultra-terrestrial’, and does not yet see all things from the divine point of view. This spirit had an enlightened faith and also a guide – the Holy Spirit; but I am speaking of a light which God sometimes gives in the clarity coming, in particular, from the Holy Spirit, and which is all the same a participation in, a foretaste of, the ‘ultra-terrestrial’ union with Him in Paradise.

“THE PHASE OF TRANSITION

“But this is a meeting. We do not arrive at it instantaneously. There is now a phase of transition from these earthly forms, from the faith illuminated and the Holy Spirit who guides, to this phase of immediate contact which God transmits. This can be the Holy Spirit; this can also be an angel or a saint who sanctifies another person on earth, given that the saint is already in heaven. This phase of transition is very difficult and is the cause of suffering. (...)

“I wish to point out, humbly, that the terrible assaults of the devil, the divine silence and the emptying out of self can all take place simultaneously. I spoke of the agony and the death of self.”
