The Study of Life of Love by an Experienced Theologian
In 1973, Father Lionel Mélançon, theologian and censor in the diocese of Trois-Rivières, having returned from a years study in Rome, undertook, at the request of the Holy Fathers Vicar General, His Excellency Bishop Jean-Pierre van Lierde, a serious and in-depth reading of the volumes of Life of Love. Over ten years, Father Mélançon read and re-read all the volumes published in 1979 and 1980, as they were being written. Then, in May of 1983, after ten years of careful and assiduous observation, he published the brochure entitled Life of Love: I Read, I Believed!, stating the following:
Like most readers, I also raised questions here and there, not concerning dogmatic or moral doctrine but in the matter of more prosaic points of practice: whether or not she should have set down certain facts, certain acts of people known, certain opinions. My hesitation concerning these points faded away one after the other, my last doubt disappearing with the last page of volume XV. I thank God for having helped me to read the whole without prejudice and without being quick to condemn. I yield to the providence and wisdom of God who is free in the dispensation of His ways and His voices (Life of Love: I Read, I Believed!, by Father Lionel Mélançon, Québec, Éditions Marie-Paule, Vie dAmour Inc., p. 13). |

In 23 years, Father Mélançon has demonstrated a remarkable fidelity, always reading very attentively and strictly, with a critical and analytical mind, all the foundress writings, including the Appendices I to V to Life of Love which were published in 1992 and 1993.

Life of Love is so important for a true understanding of the Spiritual Life. And this Life of Love is such a great inspiration to be generous in the service of the Lord who has loved us so much. These great sufferings would move a heart of stone.

Life of Love is, for me, an eloquent testimony, a testimony of the love, the tenderness, the solicitude of the Trinity for the one who abandons himself to Its divine operation, after the example of Mary.

I have just finished reading Life of Love. I found therein the fulness of the mystical which I found only in driblets in the lives of the saints of which I have read a great number. But the volumes of Life of Love they are a revelation! They are veritable mystical fireworks never before seen. What riches! They fill me with admiration.
Father Jules-Marie Krauss, Barr, FRANCE

For me, Life of Love is a spiritual guide, a source of comfort in times of difficulty, a stimulus to greater love for God and a textbook of psychology to help me in the education of my children.

I am 75 years old, a priest and a religious. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for having written Life of Love. In writing these pages, you have realized an apostolic work of the first order. This work, which has cost you so many sleepless nights, is bearing the fruit of grace far beyond the borders of Canada. How great God is in His works!
Father van Doornik, M.S.C., Apeldoorn, NETHERLANDS

Life of Love! How grand it is, this mystery of love! I have begun to love the Church; I have just come to realize that I am a son of the Church and that I must do something for her...
